Permission to reprint this article in its entirety, including this notice,
is granted by the author. Today
liberals no longer listen to Jefferson, Franklin, Lincoln, Eisenhower,
Kennedy, and the rest of the great progressives. That is why we lost
our country to scheming pseudo-Christians and fascists. I know a fascist
when I see one. I was raised under Mussolini. So was my mentor and friend
Federico Fellini. Fifty years ago his satirical cinema pulverized fascist
and rightwing Catholic mentality with powerful cine-magic that wiped
out centuries of oppressive indoctrination for millions. American
democracy's final battle is imminent. A frightening weapon is needed
to defeat fascism, like the proverbial mouse that elephants fear. Two
years ago a brilliant Berkeley professor, George Lakoff, wrote a little
book titled: Don't think of an elephant. In a few months it became a
bestseller. If Lakoff's ideas were widely understood, progressive action
could, in a few months, collapse the massive framework of cultural corruption
that took more than 35 years for conservative think tanks to erect.
How
is it possible to erase years of deceit in a few months? The answer
is surprisingly simple. What takes years to build can be demolished
with a wrecking ball in a single day. This
short article tells where a powerful wrecking ball is being assembled
so that progressive leaders can collapse the thieving conservative structure
of lies. Fellini
was a unique film author whose reputation is so colossal that his name
is even recognized by people who never saw his films. The grandiose
closing ceremony of the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino celebrated his
joyous style. Fellinis films changed human and social awareness
so deeply that even language has been affected. Whether showing the
dumb brutality of fascists, unmasking the holier-that-thou stupidity
of fake Christians, or disrobing the mindless greed of materialists,
in the end Fellini's marvelous creations lifted hearts with humor and
compassion that humanized society. Lakoff
is a master of linguistics. Maestro Fellini created a cine-magic of
unforgettable visual frames. Unite these two and you set a chemical
reaction similar to the mixing of nitro and glycerin that results in
the devastating force of dynamite. The
irresistible weapon needed to bring down conservative corruption is
now in production. It is a Fellini-style movie in three parts titled:
Deflating the Elephant. It is a mighty weapon that -- if progressive
leaders take the time to turn around, see it, understand it, support
it in every possible way, and use it in the coming battle for democracy
-- will flush all the smelly, saran-wrapped turds out of our derelict
Congress (journalist P.J. O'Rourke rightly described Congress "a
parliament of whores") and fumigate the White House thereafter.
Real
patriots -- those with enough spine to boldly defend the Constitution
-- need only see the film's 20-minute introduction featuring Sean Penn.
